Second-floor dive above the 7-Eleven near Kuhio/Ena. Band every night at 9 PM, no cover. $5 mai tais all day, every day. Indoor smoking permitted.
A 2 AM, every-night-live-band, $5-mai-tai dive bar with no cover, no dress code, and no pretense β the kind of unfiltered Waikiki room you keep hearing about and then can't find. Climb the stairs above the 7-Eleven, shoot some pool, sing along to the cover band, and pay less for a night out than you'd pay for valet at the Royal Hawaiian. Know going in: smoking is allowed indoors, so dress accordingly.
One of the last unvarnished dive bars within walking distance of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Second-floor walk-up above a 7-Eleven, hand-painted signage, pool table, dartboards, shuffleboard, and a band slot every night of the week starting at 9 PM with no cover charge. The room is bigger than the entrance suggests β outdoor seating area, small dance floor, regulars who'll greet you by drink before they greet you by name. Sister bar to Kelley O'Neil's. The catch β and reviewers are blunt about it β is that smoking is permitted inside and the ventilation hasn't quite caught up to the rest of Hawaii.
$5 mai tai β one of the cheapest published mai tais in Waikiki and it runs all day, not just happy hour.
Live band every night at 9 PM with no cover; cheapest cocktail math in the area; still allows indoor smoking.
9:30 PM any night β band is locked in, room is full but not slammed, four hours of $4.25 wells ahead.
