Under 300 sq ft β literally the size of a studio apartment. A tiny LGBTQ+ karaoke dive in an alley off Lewers. Eight stools, four high-tops, drinks like it's 2008, and $1 per song.
It's eight stools and a karaoke machine in a hallway, and that's why it works. In Between has been the locals' worst-kept secret on Lewers since 1990 β under 300 square feet, drinks under seven bucks, songs a dollar each, and a crowd that gets friendlier the longer you stay. Pair it with Bacchus next door for the perfect Lewers Street one-two punch. Bring cash, bring a song you can actually sing, and don't expect to find a seat after 9 PM.
In Between is under 300 square feet and that's the entire point. The bar lives in a sliver of an alley off Lewers Street, beneath a Velvet Video adult arcade, marked by a door that's easy to miss. Originally opened in 1990 as CC's, rebranded "In Between" after a change of ownership, and has run continuously since. It bills itself as "the Friendliest Gay Bar in Waikiki," but in practice the crowd is mixed locals, tourists who got lost, and bachelorette parties. Eight bar stools, four high-tops, one karaoke setup, and drinks priced like it's still 2008.
The daily drink special (rotating; chalk-boarded each shift). Almost always under $7 during the pre-8 PM window.
Being the tiniest functioning karaoke bar in Waikiki; $1-per-song policy; everyone gets a turn at the mic within an hour.
Weekday happy hour 5-7 PM before the karaoke crowd packs in. Or Sunday afternoons for the mellowest run.
